Testing flowrate and temperature​

  • An emergency shower shall provide 60 l / min.

  • An eye shower 12 l / min. (double)

  • Water must be available for 15o min. 

  • Temperature must be between 15o C to 37o C
    (Ideally 20o C to 25o C)

Testing spray pattern​

The spray should have a diameter of 800 mm, with 50% of the water supply contained within a 400 mm diameter.

The emergency shower must be installed in the correct height and position to ensure optimal operation.

Checking safety signs and accessibility

Signs must be visible and clearly indicate where the emergency shower is installed.

20 metres is the recommended maximum distance from the hazard to the emergency shower.
